I often find that when I feel reluctant to ask a question, but then go ahead and ask anyway, the other people around me express a sense of relief and are glad it's out in the open. Doesn't always happen like this, but it's like there is a shared discomfort in the group that's caused by misunderstanding, and sometimes a very basic, seemingly dumb question can open up the discussion and make people feel validated.
Hi James, In my experience the same thing has occured. People often do not want to speak out because they think that they are the only one who has not understood.
Words alone can be very confining to ones understanding so often it is necessary to elaborate on what has been said.
